ORGANIZE YOUR KITCHEN

Keep your kitchen simple. Keep it organized.
Make it easy on yourself… so that cooking will be a breeze!

SPEND A LITTLE TIME NOW… IT WILL SAVE LOTS OF TIME LATER.
Life is all about thinking things through. Finding better ways to do things. Ways to avoid hassles. Few things are more exhausting than coming home from a hard days work, and struggling with a messy kitchen and trying to figure out what to cook for dinner. Here at Dancing Carrots we are dedicated to trying to make your life easier. And if there is ONE thing where you can spend a little time organizing and figuring things out that will pay off later it is getting your kitchen simple and sorted out where it works FOR YOU.

GET RID OF THE CLUTTER
Most of us have a collection of various cups, plates, cooking pots and pans, and it can all just get a little messy. Decide, what don’t I really use? What really isn’t needed? The first suggestion is to weed out all the individual odd stuff in your kitchen that doesn’t stack up well, that is rarely if ever used and that takes up space that might be needed for something truly important. Just give it away or throw it out. I like to get cups that stack up in a set for example vs. lots of single cups. Same for storage containers. (see tip on storage containers… it’s a passion of mine!) I recommend getting your kitchen down to what you REALLY need.

A STEPS LENGTH IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE
So cooking can be like going to battle! Once the stove is heated up and the food is on, you gotta be on your toes. You can’t be fumbling around trying to find the spatula, or wondering where your heating pads are, or the right bowl to transfer the food into. Get to know what are your FAVORITE and most used utensils and pans and have them right handy within a step or so distance from where you cook. An arms reach here, put it back there. You know where things are. Suddenly the frustration is gone out and cooking is easy. So, keep your tools handy and easy to get to.

THE RIGHT TOOLS
We will have another entire tip on what we feel are the essentials for the optimal kitchen. But I have found that you need a couple sizes of cooking pots. A few really good sizes of cutting knives. The right baking dishes. I personally love a cast iron skillet (you have to have a great skillet of some sort to cook on your stove). Don’t over do it. Just know what works for you and have it handy. Invest in a few really nice tools – feel free to spoil yourself a bit. Your creating masterpieces! Pick what works for you but keep it simple and know how to use them.

KEEP YOUR KITCHEN STRESS FREE
I can not say enough about how important this is. For example, there are times where if I need to get a pan, and it is buried under 5 other items in the back of some drawer it is enough to make me not want to cook the meal! I have come up with ways to store things where they are easy. I love a hanging pot rack. The ones that hang from the ceiling and you have hooks and you can hang all your pots from! I have almost always had one of those in the kitchen. That one thing alone has saved me tons of aggravation digging through drawers. I also spend time keeping the kitchen clean, and putting things right back where they belong. So have some fun! Look at your kitchen and take some time to organize it perfectly for YOU!

OK… we would love to get inspirational stories or ideas of unique successes of how you conquered the overwhelming kitchen and made it easy for you. Feel free to leave your comments!
