  1. This looks yummy! I can’t wait to try it. Do you find that the kale gets smooth? I have good luck with spinach, but when I’ve tried kale in the past, it’s a little chunky for my liking. I don’t have a vitamix, just a regular blender. Either way, I like the flavor combination in your recipe. I’m visiting from Pint Sized Baker.

This is a super yummy recipe and kid-friendly to boot! I do find that the kale gets smooth, but we use a Blendtech blender. I have tried this recipe with spinach and the outcome is great as well. I would totally recommend using spinach if you don’t have a high-powered blender and don’t want the little green kale chunks. Whatever works for you. Enjoy!

Could you use coconut water instead of soy milk? We love juicing in the mornings.

    • Jodi says:

Yes, you can substitute soy milk for coconut water. The texture of the smoothie won’t be quite as creamy, and it will change the flavor a tad, but yes I would definitely try it. You might experiment with adding an extra orange as well. Smoothies are quite forgiving when it comes to substituting certain ingredients. If you do try it with coconut water, please let us know the outcome. We’d love to hear about it!
